Meet Your Piano Teacher…

Being a music teacher with over 30+ years of experience, I have taught many piano lessons and music theory to students of all ages and all skill levels. I am a member of the Board of Directors of the Anne Arundel-All Shore Music Teacher Association (AA-ASMTA) of the National Music Teacher Association (NMTA), as well as an RCM Music Certificated Teacher. Teaching has always been my passion and I aim to teach every student with care, patience, and creativity. I believe that having a strong foundation and technique is essential for students to grow. Having a strong knowledge of music theory will help students become better sight-readers. For my beginner students, I emphasize proper technique and music theory, so that when they become more advanced, he/she will be able to incorporate more piano literature and music history in their music learning journey. My goal is to turn every student into a well-rounded musician.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Piano Music from the University of Hong Kong and received my Practical and Theory Music Diplomas from the Associated Board of Royal School of Music (ABRSM). To ensure my continuous professional growth, I will be attending music workshops, reading professional publications, and engaging in other activities to enhance my teaching knowledge. I guide my students towards musical independence with a balanced program, which includes theory, ear-training, sight-reading, literature, and music history. To nurture everyone’s artistic spirit and develop an appreciation of music, I created a repertoire list that includes a wide variety of learning activities. To help students set a realistic goal, I encourage students to participate in different recitals, competitions, and music exams. Through these performance experiences, it gives students motivation to continue practicing and build up their self-confidence to achieve their goals.

My Philosophy

My philosophy is to teach every student with care, patience, and creativity. I encourage students to participant in different recitals, competitions and music exams that give them motivation to practice and build up their confidence, success in academics and success in life.
